On Thursday, June 4, our 7th graders along with seven staff members and five parents visited UCLA in Westwood. Students were given a self-guided tour by our own 7th grade teachers! The 7th graders enjoyed a full day of activities such as a scavenger hunt of UCLA, learning about college requirements, talking to college students, touring UCLA’s Student Union, watched live track and field practice, took a picture with an alumni from UCLA who currently plays for the Los Angeles Clippers (Matt Barnes) and even ran on UCLA’s track! Ms. Schwerdt’s and Ms. Garcia’s group even got “free admission” to visit the Fowler Museum (UCLA’s School of the Arts and Architecture). While exploring the museum, students got to see a room full of “Project Runway” style fashions (Dresses made out of paper cups, surgical masks, etc.).
