The Counselor's Role

At Alliance College Ready Middle Academy 4, we will emphasize the development of strong academic and personal skills as the basis for strong educational planning.  Our goal is to help your students acquire the skills needed for high school, post-high-school opportunities, and college.  We offer the following support and advisement:
 
  • Schedule individual counseling sessions with students to establish academic goals.

  • Meet with students in crisis and provide information for appropriate professional personal/social counseling services. 

  • Provide group orientations at each grade level to discuss career interest and the college exploration process.

  • Provide group counseling; meet with a group of no more than 10 scholars to work on increasing skills in a certain area (e.g. coping with strong emotions, processing grief or social skills).

  • Meet with parents and students to discuss personal goals and academic planning.

  • Meet with Teachers in regards to student progress and support their educational goals

  • Provide workshops to our school community and parents at least 1 a month in regards to bullying, social media concerns, college, financial aid, academic requirements
